National Construction Code

The Building Information Gateway (BIG) provides access to the 2022 National Construction Code, and 2019 National Construction Code.

The 1st of May 2023 marked the adoption of the National Construction Code (NCC) 2022 by the states and territories.

Some of the major changes in NCC 2022 are subject to longer transition periods, including:

  • livable housing
  • energy efficiency and condensation mitigation
  • lead free plumbing products.

To find out more information, refer to this transition table.

State and territory legislation stipulates which edition of the NCC applies to a particular project. It is recommended to check with state and territory building authorities for local advice on transitional provisions.
