AS 2908.2-1992 Cellulose-cement products - Flat sheets
Standards Australia
The Standard is based on ISO 396/3, Products in fibre reinforced cement, Part 3: Cellulose-asbestos-
cement flat sheets and on ASTM C 1186, Specification for flat non-asbestos fibre-cement sheets.
Three types of material for both external and internal application in four categories, as determined
by sheet strength, are specified.
The sheet materials specified are generally installed in accordance with traditional building practice determined and specified by the manufacturer.
The Standard forms part of a series, which is as follows:
AS
2908 Cellulose-cement products
2908.1 Part 1: Corrugated sheets
2908.2 part 2: Flat sheets (this Standard)
First published as AS 2908.2-1992.
This Standard specifies the characteristics and establishes the test methods and controls as
well as acceptance conditions for cellulose-cement flat sheets. It covers sheets intended for external applications such as claddings, facades, curtain walls and soffits, as well as sheets intended for internal use such as linings, partitions, ceilings, floors and the like, including sheets intended for moist conditions.
The sheets are finished with one of the following:
(a) Their natural colour.
(b) Colouring matter added to their composition.
(c) Coloured or uncoloured adherent coatings on their surface.
This Standard does not apply to the following products:
(i) Asbestos-fibre-reinforced sheets.
(ii) Cement-bonded particle board.
(iii) Boards of portland or equivalent cement, reinforced with wood particles.
(iv) Gypsum plasterboard.
