The objective of this document is to specify requirements and give guidance for the selection and installation of temporary edge protection conforming to AS/NZS 4994.1, for persons working near an opening in a floor, or near a platform edge, or floor edge, or any edge from which a person could fall prior to the installation of the permanent edge protection.
The major changes in this edition are as follows:
(a) Document was revised in line with the changes to parts 1 and 2.
(b) Edge protection for stepped surfaces was introduced.
The terms “normative” and “informative” are used in Standards to define the application of the appendices to which they apply. A “normative” appendix is an integral part of a Standard, whereas an “informative” appendix is only for information and guidance.
AS/NZS 4994.3:2023 specifies requirements and gives guidance for the selection and installation of edge protection conforming to AS/NZS 4994.1, for persons working near an opening in a floor, or near a platform edge or floor edge prior to the installation of the permanent walling materials. First published as AS/NZS 4994.3:2010. Second edition 2023. Reissued incorporating Amendment No 1 (October 2024).
