Provides specific guidance to architects, planners, designers, engineers, builders, installers, maintenance personnel, building owners, managers and users in the planning and installation of physical pathways and spaces in and between buildings to accommodate the equipment and cabling infrastructure necessary for communications; to the extent that this is not adequately covered for Australian and New Zealand purposes in AS/NZSISO/IEC 14763.2:2014.

AS/NZS 3084:2017 is amended as follows.

Sets out requirements for the design of nailplated timber roof trusses for residential and similar building applications in accordance with AS1720.1, AS4055 and the AS(/NZS)1170 series.

Part of the AS 1684 series, sets out the design methods, assumptions and other criteria, including uplift forces and racking pressures, suitable for the design of timber-framed buildings constructed within the limitations and parameters of, and using the building practice described in, AS 1684.2, AS 1684.3 and AS 1684.4.

This Standard adopts ISO/IEC 14763-2:2019 with modifications for Australia and New Zealand, which specify requirements for the planning, installation and operation of telecommunications cabling and cabling infrastructures including cabling, pathways, spaces and telecommunications bonds (other than that specified in AS 30129) in support of generic cabling standards and associated documents.

The objective of this Standard specifies generic cabling within premises that comprise single or multiple buildings on a campus; it covers balanced cabling and optical fibre cabling.

This Standard provides safety rules for optical fibre communication systems and associated materials and equipment.

The objective of this Standard specifies requirements that are common to the other parts of the AS/NZS 11801 series or ISO/IEC 11801 series. Cabling specified by this Standard supports a wide range of services including voice, data, and video that may also incorporate the supply of power.
