This Standard adopts ISO 22846-1:2003, which gives the fundamental principles for the use of rope-access methods for work at height; intended for use by employers, employees and self-employed persons who use rope-access methods, by those commissioning rope-access work and by rope-access associations.

Sets out the requirements and risk control measures for ensuring the safety of those who must enter or carry out tasks associated with a confined space; contains sections dealing with planning and implementing entry to a confined space; appendices include guidance for training, risk assessment, atmospheric monitoring and sample forms and permits associated with confined space work.

Gives practical guidance for training, the preparation of sites for scaffolding, and the safe selection, supply, erection, alteration, dismantling, maintenance, inspection and use of scaffolding and scaffolding equipment (companion to the AS(/NZS) 1576 series.

Sets out the minimum requirements and recommended safe practices for the selection, use and maintenance of portable ladders.

AS 1576.5 specifies requirements the design and operational performance for trestle scaffolds and trestle ladder scaffolds.

Specifies requirements for couplers and accessories for scaffolding complying with AS/NZS1576.3 and AS/NZS1576.6.

Specifies requirements and test methods for encapsulation and containment products for attachment to scaffolding, including fire hazard properties, strength properties, fixing requirements and installation procedures for various types of encapsulation.

Sets out requirements for the design, selection, construction and installation of fixed platforms, walkways, stairways and ladders that are intended to provide safe access to places used by operating, inspection, maintenance and servicing personnel.

The objective of this Standard is to provide tabulated geometrical limits and guidance which, when applied to tube and coupler installations, would ensure conformance to requirements of AS/NZS 1576.1.

Provides manufacturers and suppliers of suspended scaffolds and accessories with requirements to ensure the proper operation of suspended scaffolds.
